Road to Recovery

Hi everyone I know its been along time since anything has been written on the Blog
but many things have happened all good of coarse. Since I last blogged Jessy had returned to school for a few hours and her homebound teacher was still going to the house. Well this will continue til the end of 2011. Jessy will have an evaluation at the end of December 2011 to determine if she can go back to school full time.

Jessy has been seen various times by the doctors at Bascom Palmer for pain in the right eye and for the headaches that she keeps getting. In June they changed her prescription on her glasses as the old prescription that was given to her in December were causing her dizziness.

She was taken to the emergency room back in May for an abscess that had come out on her scar from the operation. They had schedule to cut the abscess out a few days after she saw the doctor but with Gods help and everyones prayers it popped like a pimple by itself and there was no need to do anything to her. Of coarse the doctor did advise Jessys mom to continue to observe the area as it can come back again.

Jessy was taken to the ENT doctor again because she thought she was hearing from the left ear. The results were not that bad as they did her an extensive ear test and was determined that she still does not hear from the left ear but she is showing signs of feeling vibrations in the ear that she didn't before. Thats great because the doctor had said she would never have any feeling or be able to hear from that ear. Miracles do happen!!

So Jessy has changed her wish from Make a Wish being that The Jonas Brothers are not on tour and they have all gone on their own. So Jessy new wish is to travel to Rome.
She was approved by Make a Wish on her new wish. She's so excited to go to Rome and visit the Vatican and tour different areas of Rome. This will probably take place some time in August. Will keep you posted!

On June 28th made 1 year that the doctors discovered that Jessy had a Brain Tumor and on July 1st made 1 year from Jessys operation. We are so very blessed for having everyones support to Jessys full recovery. God has been by her side and has never left it. On June 28th Jessy posted on her Facebook page the following:

"‎1 year ago today I was dignosed with a brain tumor on Friday it will be 1 year from the operation! I am blessed to be getting better everyday! I know that God is taking care of me everyday... He has taken me step by step through all this! ♥ God is great! :)"

Jessy you're an incredible young lady and you are an inspiration to many people that are going through tough times in their lives. God Bless You!

Thank you again everyone for your support!

Back to School for Jessy

On April 5th Jessy went back to school for a few hours. She was really looking forward to being back with all her friends and teachers. Her day went very well!

We'd like to "Thank" the Principal, Asst. Principal and all the faculty and all the teachers that have taken time from their own personal lives to be by Jessys side when ever shes needed and for making her feel so welcomed back her first day of school. For her Homebound teacher that shes been amazing with Jessy and keeping her up to date in all her school work. And a SPECIAL THANK YOU to all her friends that have given her such a warm welcome back and were right by her side for anything she needed. Even spent lunch time with her and made her laugh as she needed her social life back as it use to be.

Thank you all again for being in Jessys life and making her days so special and full of laughter and happiness after everything she's been through.

MRI Update

On March 21st Jessy went to Baptist Hospital for her 6 month MRI. She went early morning and went with an extremely positive attitude. She took her Ipod and set it up to hear all her favorite music while she had the MRI done. Believe it or not Jessy fell asleep in the MRI machine, incredible! It went smooth and after being there for about 2 hours she was ready to go home and get into her own bed. Her appointment with the Neurologist is April 8th but of course her parents were definitely not waiting that long for results. So on Friday, March 25th Jessys mom called the Neurologist's office and left a message for the doctor. She did recieve a call at the end of the day, it was the best news she would hear, Jessys MRI came back normal with no recurrence of the tumor. Now they would all be able to enjoy their weekend in peace knowing that everything is normal and no tumor in sight!!

The Dizzy Test that Jessy took back in February she hasn't been able still to get the results because her doctor has been out of the office in emergencys. But getting the results of the MRI pretty much answers the question to the Dizzy Test.

The Make a Wish did contact Jessy to advise her that the meet with the Jonas Brothers would take longer than expected and if she wanted to change her wish. Of course, being that Jessy adores Nick Jonas, there would be no chance of that happening. She'd rather wait to meet them than have any other wish. Will keep you informed if theres any change.

Jessy will start on April 5th back in school for a few hours. Something shes really looking forward to. She'll be able to socialize with her friends again and get out of the house everyday for a few hours. She will still have the Homebound teacher still coming to the house twice a week.

All we can say is that everything is looking very good and it will continue!

Update on Doctor Appt.

Hi everyone just alittle update on whats been going on with Jessy! She hasn't gotten yet her results on the Dizzy Test they did on her a few weeks ago. She'll be going tomorrow 03/10/11 to see her ENT for the results of the Dizzy Test.
Jessy had the appointment with the Bascom Palmer Opthomologist on Friday, 03/04/11 and they did various test on her. The doctor did say that it seems that Jessy 6th Nerve (which is the one that moves the eye from side to side on the left side) it seems to be coming back as Jessy is now able to move her eye more than before. Her 7th Nerve (which is the one that helps with the blinking of the eye) still has not had much progress. But nothing to get down about within time she should be having some movement on that eye, as she also is starting to move her mouth more and more. She needs to continue her face exercises every day to see more and more progress. He was able to do an eye exam on the left eye (remember her eye is shut 75% she has 25% open to be able to check the cornia) and Jessy did very well. Her eye sight on the left eye was an 80. The doctor says she probably can see even better once the eye is opened.
Yesterday 03/08/11 Jessy had the appointment with the Pediatrician just for a regular check up as she goes to him every month. Jessy was not expecting for him to give her 3 vaccinations that she had not been given last year because of the operation. It was a tough moment as she definitely DOES NOT LIKE SHOTS!! After almost 30 minutes of trying to convince her she finally gave in and had her shots. This vaccination is necessary for the return to school as she is a 7th grader. Hopefully Jessy will be attending school the last 9 weeks for a few hours a day and she will continue the Homebound school twice a week.
Make a Wish foundation still has not been able to set a date for her meeting with the Jonas Brothers, as said before they are not on tour so it makes it alittle more difficult. But we should be hearing something soon.
On March 21st Jessy will have her 2nd MRI done just to follow up and make sure everything is fine. The results will be a week later. Will keep you posted on the results! We know it WILL be good!!

Will keep you informed of the results of the Dizzy test and if Make a Wish calls!

ENT Doctor and Exams

So Jessy went to see her ENT Doctor last Tuesday for the follow up on her left ear. They did the hearing test again and no luck Jessy has no hearing on the left ear. But the right ear is 100% good. This is nothing that will stop Jessy or put her down. Her singing classes still are going on and the hearing hasn't affected her in anyway.

She does continue having dizzy spells so on Tuesday, Feb. 15th Jessy will have a 2 hour exam to determine if the dizziness is produced from the good ear or from the Brain tumor surgery that she underwent. We'll keep you posted on this.

We're still waiting word from the Make a Wish Foundation on when and where Jessy will be meeting The Jonas Brothers. She counts the days for this to happen.

Jessy and her family joined the 5K walk/run for Make a Wish Foundation in Weston. It was an incredible feeling to see so many people out there and doing this for such an important cause.
We hope that more people would understand how important it is for these children that are going through such hard times in their lives get a chance to have their wish come true and put a big smile on their faces!! For more info go to www.wish.org

Jessy will soon be going back to school for a few hours and still have the Homebound teacher coming to see her. Her parents are waiting to meet with both schools for this to take affect.

We'll keep you posted on all the exams and results!!

The Meeting

Jessy and her family met yesterday with the ladys that represent Make a Wish Foundation.
At 6pm Jessys mom recieved a call from Alexa from Make a Wish at that time Alexa advised Jessys mom that she would be taking dinner for the family and Fettucini for Jessy being thats Jessys favorite food. Jennifer and Alexa arrived at Jessys house about 7pm they sat with the family and explained all the paper work they were bringing. They also brought papers for Jessy to answer many questions like: Whats your favorite color, food, actor/ress, size of cloths she wears and many more questions.
Of course the main question was "Jessy what would your wish be?" As we know Jessy, her response was "Meet and sing with the Jonas Brothers!" They continued asking her various questions just to get to know Jessy alittle more. They asked her aside from meeting the Jonas Brothers if there was any other wish she would want. Jessy stayed quiet for a few minutes and then responded, "All my wishes have come true and I really don't need anything else." A very unselfish response from a 13 year old! Alexa and Jennifer made Jessy and Jessys family feel as if they had known them forever. These ladys are very special to volunteer their time to such an incredible foundation.
Before they left they told Jessy and the family they will contact them every week and keep them informed about what is going on with Jessys wish. They will also keep in contact to know about Jessy and her progress.

If anyone is interested in donating their time, money and/or resources or to know more about Make a Wish Foundation... reach out on their website www.wish.org
